Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Luxury Red White and Blue Afternoon Tea

For Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee I thought we would create a luxury red white and blue afternoon tea party. Our ideas could be quite easily be scaled up for a larger garden party, or even a street party!

A clean white tablecloth ( I used our washed linen ruffled tablecloth available to order only) over any garden table, and if possible, let it drape onto the floor to create decadence. I used red, white and blue paper fans, to add a pop of colour on top of the draped white tablecloth.

I used a vintage white tea set, which belonged to my Mother in Law (who adored the Royal Family, so I’m sure she would be very happy with the inclusion of her tea set!)
If you don’t have a white tea set, any pretty crockery suits an afternoon teascape. It doesn’t have to match, and vintage finds from thrift stores and charity shops can work perfectly.
The day before the celebrations, make all the cakes! Of course, using Union Jack cupcake cases, and red, white and blue sprinkles. Also, quintessential for a British afternoon tea is scones, cream and jam.
I also prepared red and blue ice, by popping blueberries and raspberries & water in ice cube trays…. such a pretty way to elevate a glass of refreshing lemonade.

I love to get my children involved with the excitement to, so they made the cute little Union Jack flags and added flags to the red and blue straws too! I used this download from Early Learning Centre and they cut out flags and then stuck onto little cocktail sticks. A great way to co-ordinate the scones and cakes into the red white and blue afternoon tea!

Of course, added red and white flowers to your teascape too! (It’s not so easy to find royal blue flowers). I used clear glass little bud vases, and a vintage blue bud vase which fitted the colour theme perfectly.

And of course, here at The Embroidered Napkin Company – no table is complete without embroidered napkins! I wanted a napkin that could be used again after the Jubilee, and a I fell in love with this pretty floral crown embroidered in red, white and blue! Embroidered onto white ruffled napkins and cocktail size napkins – so pretty and absolutely perfect for a Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea!
