We knew we were making napkins for a beautiful celebration in Scotland with @tartanweddings… but we didn’t realise quite whose celebration they were for. A very special 20-year vow renewal for Jyothika & Suriya. ✨ Lisa from @tartanweddings “As soon as I walked into the castle with the florist Diane a few months back, I knew I wanted to her to create a magical floral garden in the center of the table. I curated the look with linens from 88 events, tableware from Options Great hire, and chairs from Milana event hire . I knew I wanted custom napkins from the embroidered napkin company to finish off the place setting and a wonderful keepsake for all their special guests.” There’s something lovely about our work quietly becoming part of occasions like this, made here in our Nottingham studio, packed up and sent on its way, and sometimes we don’t discover the full story until afterwards. Twenty years of marriage, celebrated all over again. And our embroidered napkins got to be a tiny part of it. Definitely one of those “wait… we made those!” moments in the studio! Well… technically yes. 😂 But it’s probably not qu Well… technically yes. 😂 But it’s probably not quite the camera roll you’re imagining. It’s full of thread colours, linen swatches, ribbon shades, embroidery tests, monograms, proofs, half-finished napkins and photos of almost exactly the same gold thread because one is definitely warmer than the other. When you offer 54 napkin colours, 400+ embroidery threads and endless ways to personalise something, apparently your camera roll starts looking less like Pinterest and more like an extremely niche haberdashery. Well… this was a rather lovely email to open! We’ Well… this was a rather lovely email to open! We’ve officially been named on The 2026–2027 Loverly List, winning Best International Innovator. When I started my little embroidery business, I could never have imagined where it would take me, or that one day our work would be recognised internationally alongside some of the very best in the wedding industry. Every monogram we digitise, every napkin we embroider, every bow we tie and every slightly unusual “could you embroider this…?” request is still made right here in our Nottingham studio by our small team. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but especially proud that creativity and innovation are what we’ve been recognised for. We’re always experimenting, developing new ideas and finding ways to make embroidery feel personal, modern and completely unique to each wedding. Because velvet ribbon doesn’t have to be tied into Because velvet ribbon doesn’t have to be tied into a bow to make an impact. For this table, we kept things beautifully simple, rich burgundy velvet wrapped around soft pink napkins, with each guest’s initial embroidered in gold. No traditional place card needed. Their initial tells them exactly where they’re sitting, while becoming part of the styling at the same time. And I love how the deep velvet stops all that beautiful pink from feeling too sweet ❤️❤️ Personal, luxurious, but still really clean. Proof that sometimes one embroidered letter is enough. These photos popped up in my memories this week… a These photos popped up in my memories this week… and I had to share them! 15 years ago, I was a Sales Manager for Janome UK, and these were taken in Florida at a Janome worldwide conference. Long before The Embroidered Napkin Co existed, (I launched @extraspecialtouch in 2009 and @theembroiderednapkincompany in 2018) sewing and embroidery machines were already a huge part of my working life. My background is actually very technical. I’ve worked with sewing and embroidery machines for years, trained people to use them, taught embroidery software, demonstrated machines and spent countless hours understanding what they can do and, probably more importantly, how to get them to do exactly what I want them to do. 😂 Before that, I studied costume for TV and theatre, pattern cutting, machine embroidery and millinery, and worked as a pattern cutter and design assistant too. So when a bride or planner comes to us and says… “I’ve got an idea, but I’m not sure if it can be embroidered…” Those are often my favourite enquiries. Because what you see on Instagram might be a beautiful napkin, a wedding crest, a venue illustration, a handwritten message or an embroidered piece of lace… …but behind it are decades of sewing, embroidery, digitising, textiles and technical experience. It’s also why we do so much of our work completely bespoke. We’re not limited to choosing a design from a catalogue and adding your initials. Give me the slightly unusual idea. The drawing. The handwriting. The venue. The family crest. The thing you’re not quite sure is possible. Chances are, we’ll find a way to embroider it. 🪡 And, 15 years later, I still spend most of my working life surrounded by embroidery machines.
